Instrumental Teacher - Drum Kit/Djembe

Location: Birmingham
Salary: £22,727 to £29,184.00 FTE per annum (pro rata for part time)
Contract Type: {Contract Type}
Position Type: Part Time
Expiry Date: 22/02/2026 23:59

This is a fantastic opportunity for a passionate percussionist to inspire the next generation of young musicians across Birmingham. As a Drum Kit/Djembe Teacher with Services For Education, you’ll play a key role in bringing music to life in schools, helping pupils discover rhythm, creativity and confidence through high‑quality percussion teaching.

You’ll work in a variety of school settings, delivering exciting and engaging lessons on both Drum Kit and Djembe. No two days are the same – one day you might be leading a lively whole‑class workshop, the next you could be supporting a small group or preparing an individual pupil for a performance. You’ll have the freedom to bring your musical personality and ideas into the classroom, designing lessons that spark curiosity, encourage participation and help students make real, noticeable progress.

Your work will go beyond teaching technique: you’ll be building pupils’ self‑belief, teamwork skills and love for music. You’ll also have opportunities to contribute to wider musical activities through SFE, including concerts, ensemble rehearsals and city‑wide performance events. As part of a supportive and creative Music Service team, you’ll be surrounded by colleagues who share your passion and commitment to high‑quality, inclusive music education.

This role is perfect for someone who thrives on variety, enjoys working with children and young people, and is excited by the idea of making a positive difference through music every single day.

Services For Education uses the power of learning and music to create and build confidence among children, young people, adults, and communities across Birmingham.

Our mission is to bring music and learning to life. We believe that every young person should be able to grow up to be the very best that they can be, regardless of their background.

To this end the charity was formed in 2012 to provide more opportunities for children of all ages and abilities in Birmingham to reach their full potential. Our work has recently expanded to include working with young people, adults and communities.
